Ollie smiles and laughs as it’s an instant success, but as soon as he tries to head back he runs into Hackett, who saw everything. Back to the building, we see Robert finishing making a deal with the contractor, but finds out by Hackett that young Oliver knocked out an officer. The other scientist wants to help, but Werner tells him he doesn’t and demands him if he don’t leave him alone, he will kill him. The scientist doesn’t believe it, but Werner grabs a eye-like device—still in the works—and starts creating vertigo-like effects. The other scientist collapse to his knees while hearing a lot of noises. Werner stops it and warns him that if he messes with him again, next time won’t be pretty. Werner leaves.

When it gets to June 21 at the Queen Estate, LAURA QUEEN (Sheryl Lee) and young Ollie enjoy themselves in the backyard; while she tells Ollie about the two-week family trip to the Indies tomorrow. Robert appears alongside Hackett; Robert tells them that the trip has been pushed to later today. Ollie convinces them that he doesn’t want to go and focus on his studies. Robert and Laura both agree for him to stay alongside with Hackett and MARLA, the Queen’s maid. Later on that day, the Queens kissed Ollie goodbye and soon departed from their private plane. As the plane takes off, Ollie wave goodbye, but he had lied to them about staying for studies and decide to fool around. On the next day, Robert and Laura enjoy their leisure in their plane as it continues to head to the Indies, but soon we start seeing the plane mysteriously shake and the Queens are stunned what is going on and then the plane mysteriously crashes killing them and their pilot. In the next few weeks, Ollie enjoys his free time by himself but starts wondering about his parents' return. MR. PELP, the operating office for Queen Corporation, quickly arrives to inform Hackett about terrible news. Hackett and Mr. Pelp coincide in the library, as Ollie is curious to hear what is this terrible news; as Marla tries to stop him, he makes it to the library, but runs in the part when Mr. Pelp announced to Hackett, “…the plane crashed down; Mr. and Mrs. Queen are dead!” Ollie is shocked, devastated, and orphan. Hackett sees him, but Ollie runs out of the estate to somewhere out in the backyard field breaking down from hearing about his parent’s tragic death. As the years go by after learning the Queen’s unexpected and tragic death, Hackett becomes the beneficiary of the estate, acting CEO of the company, and as well caretaker to young Ollie. As for Ollie, he graduates from border school and entered Harvard. Ollie then heads to the cemetery to pay respects to his parent’s grave, yet believes something is not right and hope the plane crashed accidentally, not intentionally. As he walks out unbeknownst, a mysterious figure sees the teenage Oliver leaving; it is Mr. Fugate, as he takes out his watch and realizes what time it is. He soon heads off. Ollie heads inside the limo and sees his driver, BOBBY; he soon tells him “It’s time to live a little.”

Flash forward to the year 2015 on June 12--as we see the 24-year-old Oliver Queen (Liam Hemsworth) inside a Queen Corporation jet over the high skies above the New Zealand set to jump. Ollie wearing his skydiving suit and protective gear gets the go ahead to jump off the plane. A few hours later in the Sahara desert, Ollie driving a green ATV and two of his male friends driving blue and black ATVs zoom through the desert field through the sunset. Back to Star City to Queen Corporation and inside the Sound lab, Hackett, who is still controlling the business aspect of the company until Oliver is ready to takeover—tries to stay calm and distract a bunch of Asian marketers, who Ollie supposed to see in an important Asian fair trade meeting, but Ollie is nowhere to be seen. However, Oliver rushes inside making it to the meeting and in time to discuss the Asians about the company’s newest inventions. As they approach further, an older Dr. Werner perfecting his device tries to show it to them; Werner acknowledges it creates perfect vertigo and control sound waves, but has a side effect of showing illusionistic images. As some of the marketers are impressed by the demo, Ollie is upset. Dr. Werner insists it has the power to change the world, yet Ollie laughs claiming it only creates noises and makes people fall down. Insulted, Werner makes a sly comment about the late Robert. Mad, Ollie fires Werner on the spot and alerts security to take the doc out of the building. We then see Dr. Werner making one last threat to Ollie saying, “This isn’t over.” Ollie smiles as he tells the marketers and shows them the company’s newest innovation, smart nano probes well as the female scientist, DR. KRISTA MARKS (Naya Rivera). She shows them how these weapons can mimic any shape from a gun to a net to a bomb to even stun gas.

Later in the building, Ollie heads to Hackett’s office as the meeting is over and Hackett tells him that the company has been doing a lot worse than before; Ollie believes that he needs to take a vacation and against Hackett’s option to work on further on Queen Products. Ollie insists Hackett to join him. Hackett first disagree, but Oliver convinces him enough. A few days later, off the coast of Saint Lucia, after scuba diving, Oliver heads back on his yacht to join a party up the deck. At the party as we see some his friends, some beautiful and hot women and others his male friends, Ollie soon catches up with them to dance and have fun. Hackett pretending to have a good time gets out his cell as he gets a call from some guy named ODASTRA. He talks to him and while we see Hackett still on the phone heading down the boat, drinks are being served. An hour and a half later, Ollie totally drunk after drinking a lot of alcoholic drinks, but still doesn't care—and unaware of his drunken state, begins a rant literally destroying the party. After the rant, Oliver collapse on the floor totally knockout after drinking a lot. Hackett returns above seeing him on the floor unconscious and he heads to the opposite direction. We then see Hackett controlling the yacht and it heads somewhere on the sea; as the yacht moves off course, a different boat seen in a distance approaches Ollie’s yacht. On the separate boat are drug smugglers, one of them is Odastra. He along with his men kills Oliver’s friends and throws them overboard; Ollie is still unconscious and we then see Hackett auto-piloting the boat somewhere as he departs the yacht leaving Ollie for dead. All we see is Hackett, Odastra, and the other smugglers zooming away from the yacht as the boat carrying the non-moving Oliver somewhere off course.

Soon Ollie wakes up being washed up on a deserted and strange island; confused and doesn't know what happened, Ollie sees his yacht in pieces and fears something bad happened to everyone. As he wonders what happened to them and as well Hackett, he ponders about the island he is on, so he ventures off to explore the island knowing there is nothing left of the yacht. When he gets hungry, Ollie finds several plant leaves, slugs, worms, and fruits to eat in order to survive. He later creates a shelter to rest, make a fire, and survive as days and nights continue to pass. One night as he fall asleep he dreams of his parents and some of the times they share when he was six and seven years old before his father spent more time with the company; then ponder if his reckless behavior lately is all because he couldn't be ready to fully lead the company. The next day Ollie encounter humans wearing tribe-like attire, thinking they are inhabitants; he soon judges them as he ponders if they are hostile, but to his surprise they are not; one of them, a male named KUR and invites Ollie. When Ollie gets impressed over the things the islanders are doing, he wants Kur to show him; Kur agrees and teaches Oliver how to hunt fiercely. While Ollie learns how to hunt fiercely, he improves his archery skills and as well set up creative traps.

For over few months adapting what he knows, Ollie with a light beard and long hair makes up several tests to see his new found abilities at its best. As Ollie is completing his test, he sees another islander up in a hill and follows. He reaches to the hill seeing the man he saw; we then see the man, as he reveals his face to Ollie and then knocks him down on the ground. He introduces himself to Ollie as NATAS (Ken Wanntabe); we see Kur approaching telling Oliver that Natas is no person to play around and Ollie feels what he is doing is no horseplay as he is serious. Natas convinces Ollie that he can teach him excellence. Ollie shrugs and before he gets up, Natas strikes him down without Ollie knowing he done it. He gets confused and tells Natas how he did it and Natas then tells him, “Excellence…let me show you.” Minutes later, we see Oliver and Natas training as Natas is teaching him his martial arts and shows him the ‘do’s and don’ts’ and the training hits to hours then to night fall. Months continue to pass as Ollie's training intensifies and grows. On a November day, Natas sees Oliver by himself training from distance and then notice strange figures at the background carrying crates. Oliver finished what he learned sees the smugglers. He and Natas hide within the plants spying on them and unbeknownst, their leader is Odastra, Hackett’s private partner. On the phone with Hackett, Odastra utters name out loud where Ollie overhears Hackett’s name and is puzzled why his name would be involved with them.

Minutes later we see one of the smugglers approaching Oliver and Natas unknowingly and attack them; Ollie and Natas sees it coming and counter attack. Odastra and his other men hear the commotion, and Odastra yells at them to find out what is going on. Oliver remembers the time when he was ten and made that bow. He begins crafting a new bow made out of a broken piece of vine and a stick. As he gets them, more smugglers sprints off to get him and then out of nowhere other stick weapons (arrows and spears) starts hitting and killing the men. Odastra sees all his men getting killed. He sprints off. As Odastra begins to take some drugs and heads to the bay, Oliver ties to use his last stick arrow and shoots it at a self-made trap trapping Odastra into a net high above ground. Feeling captured, Odastra sees Oliver and thinking that’s not him. Oliver looks at him and starts interrogating him about his yacht, his friends, and as well Hackett. Odastra tells Oliver that it was Hackett who wanted him to die in a shipwreck. Shocked and stunned that it was Hackett, Ollie then threatens Odastra to tell him why Hackett done it; Odastra responded, “He only listened to them, they orchestrated your supposed-to-be-death and as well your parents.” He demands Odastra to tell him, “Who is them?” We then see Odastra getting out a gun he had all this time and he feeling his life is now over, shoots his brains out. Natas witness the smuggler leader’s death as well, but Ollie realizes he needs to go home.

Having this deep wanting to know where is Hackett and who is this ‘them’ that helped him, Ollie and Natas heads back to the bay with the help from Kur and some island hunters craft a boat. Soon he finishes it, Oliver soon says goodbye to the islanders for helping him hunt, improving his archery, and the martial arts training. Natas says one last advice to him and that he need to use his abilities for the good. Ollie smiles and assures Natas that he will protect the good. Soon, Ollie hops aboard his boat and with assistance from some islanders’ heads off to the sea. He waves goodbye to his friends and use his paddles to move forward home. Two hours later into the sea, Ollie still on his boat paddling across the seas as the wind is helping his boat’s projection, but to find any point to Star City there is no visible sign. However, he continues to go on until he spots a big boat that looks like a carrier boat. The captain of the boat sees him. Minutes later, we see the captain and his crew carrying Ollie to the floor of their boat. The captain wonders and tells the young man, “Where are you going, my son?” Oliver responds in bumbling words after sleeping and is still delirious of his venture on the seas, “I’m going home!” One of the mates responds to him, “Where?” Ollie then replied, “Star…Star City.” And he then passes out.

Forward in 2016, in a Star City foundry, Hackett appears and as well another figure approaching him. It’s Dr. Werner Vertigo wearing different attire than his scientist look and we see the device he was supposed to show months ago at the lab show, but instead accustom it into his weak left eye. Hackett and Vertigo not too keen with one another notices another man joining their party, Mr. Fugate, who takes out his pocket watch and is wondering what time it is. Hackett wants to get out, but Mr. Fugate tells him that he took this job and if he ever leaves he will have nowhere to turn. Knowing he sold his soul to the devil, Hackett has no way out but to agree with his plan. Vertigo then proceeds to tell Fugate that everything he prepared for is ready and mention telling the others about phase two. Grey agrees and Hackett ponders what is phase two? Hackett tells Vertigo, “What is phase two, Werner?” Vertigo responds, “It’s Count Vertigo now, and phase two is what you will see soon.” As Count Vertigo and Hackett leave, Mr. Fugate looks upon his watch again and gets out his phone as he was already expecting a call. He answers it and tells the caller that in seventeen hours, thirty-six minutes, and four seconds, Phase Two will commence. Meanwhile, a carrier boat comes into the Star City Harbor Ollie is inside the deck of the boat.

It's been over a year since his island exile and now that he is back home, Ollie wakes up from his delirious state and filled with his new abilities, he wants to find Hackett and the secret group who arranged all of this; however, he wants to start off from scratch and heads to his apartment. We then cut to his apartment complex and sees a mysterious female by his study. As he looks a mess still with his beard, long hair, and ripped clothes, the female turns around and we see it’s a young 25 year old brunette BRIANNA STONE (Amber Heard). Ollie sees her face and responds, “Bri?!” Brianna stunned at the rugged man, she replies, “Who are you? No one calls me by that name except…" "Oliver Queen”, Ollie responded. Brianna then takes a closer look and sees his eyes and blonde hair, “Ollie?!” Feeling that’s him, she collapses on the floor. Minutes later, Ollie wakes her up, but she becomes disgusted over Ollie mainly because of how they left the last time they seen each other back in Harvard. Ollie tells her he used to be a brash punk, but after last year he has changed. Brianna disagrees and tells him he will always be the self-righteous man she knows him as. She then tells him she came back to this city to be a top reporter, and hope she doesn't run into him again. She leaves. Upset about his relationship with Bri, Ollie looks at a picture of his parents and promises them he will change his ways.

As the days go by, Ollie cuts off his beard and long hair to be that “attractive playboy”, but decides to skip his thrill seeking thrills and head back to the company. He takes over as CEO replacing Hackett immediately. As the city continues to get surprised by Oliver’s return from exile and takeover of the company; he makes sure Star City will be protected once again. He then covers his way completing several unfinished projects with one being the Zeta Project design. He reunites with an old friend, Diego as Diego is now head contractor of the Zeta reconstruction. While he continues doing his business efforts, Ollie decides he needs to know info about his parent’s murder as well track down a missing Hackett. He uses his learned training and hunting skills and decides to become a masked vigilante. He starts developing a suit and with assistance with Dr. Marks, he seeks her to create nano probes to create state-of-the-art arrows with multiple of abilities. In a month’s time, he finishes his secret project. He suits up as the vigilante and takes his modified bow and arrows. He decides to seek info from people who know his parents and even Hackett personally. He starts invading CHAUCER MILLER (George Itzin), DESMOND WHITE (Powers Boothe), and JOHN MAIZZINI (Julian Glover). Ollie with his masked disguise forces them to reveal what they really know about June 21, 2001. Soon he finds out by White that he knows one. Realizing police could be coming, Ollie decide to steal valuable objects from each of them and brings the stolen objects to the poor in the Zeta projects.

At the Star Ledger, Brianna’s boss (Isaiah Washington) tells her about this masked Robin Hood stealing from the rich; and tells her to find out who is this guy. She gets impressed and decides to take that offer. She then gets an invitation by Oliver to join him for a “friends-only date”. She smiles quickly and decides to do it, while trying to track down the vigilante. Meantime, a Star City police cop EDDIE FYERS (Eric Balfour) tries to track down the masked vigilante. In his search, he spots the fiend. Ollie sees an officer tracking him; he tries to lose him in order to find HAMPTON—who Ollie learned from White that Hampton met his father the day before the crash. Oliver eventually finds Hampton and demands to know what he knows and what the conversation between him and Robert Queen was. Before Ollie can get info, the apartment gets bombarded with loud noises. Count Vertigo appears and notices the green-hooded figure. Ollie sees Werner and is surprised; Oliver realizes Werner developed the vertigo-like technology; trying to get to Hampton, Vertigo kills Hampton and increases the noises crippling Ollie; Ollie then starts to see illusions of his parents, Hackett, and Brianna telling him he is nothing. Ollie fights through the illusion and the noises, but Vertigo is gone. Ollie gets upset that Hampton didn’t tell him.

The next night, Oliver taking a night off from being the vigilante meets up with Brianna at a restaurant. They talk about what went wrong with their relationship; Brianna then tells him about a story she’s doing about the masked man that stolen valuable objects from many wealthy socialites. Ollie thinks he’s a nut job, but Brianna tells him she wants to meet the “Emerald Archer” fellow. Ollie thinks he should have another name like the Green Arrow. Brianna likes it and decides to call the masked vigilante that. As the date ends, Ollie suits up as Green Arrow to meet Brianna. He in the disguise tells her that she stop following him. He then kisses her, but gets slapped. Soon Ollie escapes. Meantime, Count Vertigo notices the green figure and starts tracking him down. Fyers noticed a reporter was scooping, so he finds Brianna and tells her what she knows. Green Arrow continues his mission to find the truth and soon he catches up with Hackett. Hackett tries to escape, but Green Arrow lays a trap. Green Arrow forces Hackett to reveal why he wanted to killed Oliver Queen; Hackett confesses that he didn’t have a choice and that “they” want told them to. Green Arrow wanted to know who is they, but then a group of hired thugs appear. Green Arrow stopped them only to find out Hackett disappeared. Back as Oliver, he realizes a huge company social is heading next week and finishes up the last touches. Then Fyers appear and ask Oliver about the vigilante; Oliver act as if he is concerned he could be next, but Fyers tells him he knows he is the Green Arrow. Oliver don’t know what he is talking about until Fyers reveals he is a FBI agent; and that he tracked Oliver’s reappearance from the carrier ship. Fyers then show Oliver a arrow the vigilante left and his people track the technology behind the arrow to Queen Corp. Oliver has no choice but to tell Fyers he is Green Arrow; Fyers wants to know why the “Robin Hood” angle, and Oliver tells him it’s a cover for him to investigate his parents’ murder. Fyers knows about the crash, but agrees it is fishy; Oliver tells him his latest lead was Hampton, but he was murdered by a former Queen Corp scientist named Werner Vertigo. Fyers tells Oliver that he wants to help, so he heads out to understand more while Oliver tells him to be careful.

As Green Arrow continue the investigation and search for Hackett, he meets up with Vertigo. They duel it out only for Green Arrow to get attacked once again by Vertigo’s eye device. Green Arrow kneels in pain and then Vertigo takes off the hood to discover Oliver. Vertigo a bit shocked, but Oliver realizes he has to escape. She tells him that the reason she is here is that after that last conversation they had, she wants to be friends with him again. Oliver tries to see maybe they can go back to where they were before Metropolis, but Brianna tells him back in Harvard, she was searching for something until Metropolis and now back in Star City. She tells him she found her calling, but wonders if he found his. He tells her about the social and hopes she can come so she can be his friend/date. She tells him she will think about it; Oliver smiles and heads to his bathroom to wash up; Bri then notices the green suit hiding beneath the bed. Back at the foundry, Count Vertigo meets up with Mr. Fugate. Count Vertigo sees him fooling with his watch and wonders if he is a clock king or something. Fugate tells him that “they” want him to execute this Green Arrow and Oliver Queen. Vertigo is pleased about the task and tells him he can’t wait. A week later, as the company starts prepping up for the Queen Corp Social at the Starlight Hotel’s ballroom. Oliver notices Eddie. An hour later, OIlie heads back to his place to get ready, but then starts hearing noises so much he appears paralyzed as he collapses to the ground; Vertigo appears and attacks Oliver blaming him for his firing and his non-support for his revolutionary idea. He wanted to prove a point and find the truth, but believes he is doing more harm than good. He wanted to be the protector, but fears he may not be the savior for the desperate and poor. He then heads to the old Queen estate to reminisce his family’s past. He then finds a tape message left by his father. Oliver hears what his father has to say and tells him, “You are my son. You are destined for greatness. The future is yours.” and tells Ollie one last thing about The Perspective. Wondering what it is, the tape runs out not letting Oliver know anything about this Perspective, but starts to wonder if this organization knows about the Perspective and maybe his father knew something they want so they had him and his mother killed. Refueled with determination, Ollie seeks Dr. Marks again and tells her to recreate the arrows, but this time much stronger. He then recreates the GA suit and the bow with a modified steel structure and a targeting system. Before he can be Green Arrow again, he realizes he has more people in harm’s way including Brianna. He informs Eddie to keep an eye on her.

However, Eddie appears and tells her that Ollie might be late and lets her know he is here just until he comes back. Brianna starting to wonder if he’s becoming Green Arrow; but struggles to believe that’s the reason he is late. Soon the party is crashed by a group of thugs with earplugs and then Vertigo appears using his eye device starts crippling everyone. He orders some of his thugs to head to the safe; Eddie and Brianna not hoping no one lose their life both try to stop it but Eddie ends up shot by Vertigo; Brianna then gets taken by one of Vertigo’s thugs. Oliver enters only to see what is going on; he dresses up as Green Arrow and crash the party. He stops all the thugs letting the people go, Eddie already called notify Star City police by a secret radio and is able to walk to safety but tells Oliver that Brianna was taken. Green Arrow goes after Vertigo and his men who find the safe and eventually Goliath chip. Green Arrow handles the men, but Vertigo grabs hold of Brianna. He takes the drive and her and tries to escape to a still under constriction addition to the hotel. Green Arrow follows them. GA takes on Vertigo when he loses the drive; Brianna tries to find the drive. GA continues battling Vertigo until Vertigo uses his device to start crippling him, but Green Arrow counterattacks and spin kicks him to the beam floor. He forces Vertigo to tell him who is he working for, but Vertigo remains silent until he grabs a knife and stabs Green Arrow in his lower rib area. Green Arrow collapses to the floor; Vertigo unmasks him to reveal Oliver and places his knife near Ollie’s face. He mocks Oliver that Hackett gave up on him, his former love, the city, and his own parents. Ollie still feeling the stab wound until Vertigo forces pressure; Vertigo tells him he will never know what happened to his parents; thinking all is lost, Brianna shows up and tells him she has the drive. Vertigo gets distracted allowing Oliver to use a mini-bow—specially devolved from his wrist glove—and fires a mini-arrow to Vertigo’s left eye. The arrow creates an EMP-like effect electrocuting Vertigo in the process. Before he dies, Vertigo pushes Brianna off the building along with the drive. Oliver dives to save her and uses another arrow to swing them across another building for safety. Brianna kisses Oliver for him saving her and tells him his secret is her secret. Ollie smiles.

The next day, Brianna’s boss wants to know how the story and if she has any leads; Brianna tells him it’s still ongoing. She soon leaves probably to continue her story. Back at Queen Corporation, Oliver realizing the threat he faced yesterday could be more and wonder if he is putting Eddie and Brianna in much danger than no one realize. Eddie enters and tells him about what he learned about Hackett. Whoever is doing this kidnapped his daughter when she was a baby and forced him to do what he was told. Oliver felt sorry for Hackett never realizing that he sacrificed himself for his daughter’s safety and for his own. He tells Eddie if he knew about this Perspective. Eddie seems confused and tells him he don’t know, but will continue to find out. He heads out. Ollie tries to focus back on his company’s efforts until he gets visited from Brianna. They talk about what happened last night; and if she meant by his secret is her secret. She does and wonders how about the wound; he tells her he will be fine. She wonders what was inside that drive known as Goliath. Oliver tells her when he tried to find out, the memory was erased. She ponder if his father did that, but Oliver thinks it was Hackett who made sure whoever is behind this didn’t find out. He then tells her about how she is going to fix her story; she tells him she just going to make something up and promise her boss she will find the identity of Green Arrow one way or another. She then winks and head out until Ollie stops her and wonder if their relationship has changed. She tells him she knows his secret, but refuses to tell him that this changes anything she felt for him. She then leaves. Oliver is somewhat optimistic that one day she will see the real Oliver Queen, but hopes he can be that person until then has to struggle being a billionaire thrill seeker and businessman; and a masked vigilante out to see what is good. He heads to his laptop to uncover an anonymous email; he opens it to reveal whoever sent it tells him, “Want answers…see the Clock King.” Ollie gets intrigued.

Hours later somewhere in the city in a hotel room, Mr. Fugate enters and lays his pocket watch down; he heads to the bathroom to freshen up, but when he returns to see his pocket watch…it is missing. He then hears someone telling him to see if this watch is his, before then he gets hit by a glove-like arrow. Fugate collapses as the figure that has his watch is Green Arrow. He positions his bow and arrow right at Fugate. Fugate wants to know what he wants. Green Arrow tells him, “I want to talk.” And then he smiles.
