Kal-El was born on the planet Krypton to Jor-El and Lara, and raised by Jonathan and Martha Kent in the town of Smallville, Kansas. He eventually becomes the hero known as Superman.

Early Life

Krypton

Kal-El was born on Krypton to the brilliant Jor-El and his wife Lara. His birth occurred during the Kryptonian Civil War known as 'Zod's Rebellion'. After Zod was defeated and sentenced to the intergalactic prison realm known as the Phantom Zone, Jor-El learned that Zod had corrupted the Kryptonian Brain Interactive Console (Brainiac) in retalliation for his imprisonment, and that Krypton's days were numbered. In order to preserve at least some of Krypton, Jor-El and Lara sent Kal-El to Earth, where his appearance would resemble their native humans so he could pass off as one of them, but would have powers under its yellow sun that would make him far superior to anyone on Earth. Kal-El was able to leave Krypton just as it was destroyed.

Arrival on Earth

In 1992, Kal-El's ship arrived in Kansas while Jonathan and Martha Kent were on a backpacking trip. They found the baby, and were able to tell that he obviously did not have any family nearby. They cam up with an elaborate cover story just in case anyone ever became suspicious, and decided to take the baby into their home. They named him Clark, after Martha's maiden name.

Childhood

Clark spent his childhood living in the town of Smallville, Kansas. His parents were always very protective of him, as they did not want anyone to discover the truth about where he came from and what he could do. As a result, Clark was constantly picked on and did not have many friends.
